On September 2, 2020, President Santa J. Ono announced that the majority of UBC classes in 2020W term 2 (January to April 2021) will be offered online, with some face-to-face instruction in select programs. Read the full announcement.
The Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory will offer most courses online in term 2. Details for individual programs are noted below.
Undergraduate Courses
ARTH (Art History) Courses
All undergraduate ARTH courses in term 2 will be 100% online.
VISA (Visual Art) Courses
Most VISA courses in term 2 will be 100% online.
Some VISA classes that rely on the use of specialized equipment and facilities and/or that involve technical instruction will be delivered face-to-face in order to achieve key learning outcomes and to allow for the production of artwork in certain media.
Some VISA classes will be delivered with a combination of online teaching and, for those students who are willing/able, occasional face-to-face meetings on campus (i.e., “hybrid”).
Note that any face-to-face instruction for term 2 is currently pending approval by the University (noted as “pending approval” below). These courses are subject to change.
