The Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory is pleased to announce Assistant Professor Sadia Shirazi has been appointed as Canada Research Chair (Tier 2) in the History of South Asian Art, Architecture, and Visual Culture.
Dr. Shirazi’s research focuses on the transregional histories of modern and contemporary art and architecture across South Asia, the Indian Ocean, and its diasporas.
Established in 2000 by the Government of Canada, the Canada Research Chairs Program is committed to enable Canadian universities to achieve the highest levels of research excellence and become world-class research centres. Chairholders contribute to improve our depth of knowledge and quality of life, strengthen Canada’s international competitiveness, and help train the next generation of highly skilled people through student supervision, teaching, and the coordination of other researchers’ work.
