Catching up with some of the achievements of our amazing undergraduate students!
Niklas Groschinski completed his BA Honours in Art History in AHVA this spring and is entering the MA program in Cultural, Intellectual and Visual History at the Warburg Institute in London this fall.
In his time at UBC, Niklas has worked closely with Professor Daniela Boccassini in Italian Studies on Western esoteric thought, myth, and chivalric romances, and in his graduating year at UBC he completed his Art History Honours thesis entitled “On the Threshold of the Pastoral: Dosso Dossi’s ‘Melissa’ as Allegory of Transformation in the Court of Alfonso d’Este” with Professor Catherine Soussloff. He also received an AUSxURO Arts Undergraduate Research Award for the paper entitled “Between Mockery and Praise: Ercole II d’Este in the Dossi Brothers’ Allegorical Portrait,” which he wrote for Professor Joseph Monteyne’s seminar on early modern portraiture, a portion of which was published in the Canadian Journal of Undergraduate Research.
Significantly, Niklas is also the recipient of the Governor-General’s Silver Medal in Arts, which is awarded every year to the BA student with the highest academic standing. He has also secured an exciting internship at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna for July and August.
Let’s wish Niklas well in his future endeavours in Vienna and London!
