The Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory extends our heartfelt congratulations to members of our department who have recently received awards and recognition administered by the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts (RCA).
At RCA‘s Award Dinner on November 18, 2024, current BA Visual Art student Deon Feng was awarded one of the three CD Howe Scholarships. An RCA 2024 Medal for Contributions to Art and Scholarship was awarded to AHVA Professor Emeritus John O’Brian.
In January 2025, RCA announced the awarding of the King Charles III Coronation Medal as a service award in recognition of individuals who had admirably served the RCA or more generally ”the arts“ in a manner worthy of recognition. AHVA retired faculty member Barrie Jones was among the twenty-three inaugural recipients. Red the full press release here.
