Congratulations to AHVA Alumnus Séamus Kealy (BFA’96, MA’05) on his appointment as the new Executive Director of Oakville Galleries in Ontario.
Kealy is an award-winning director and curator of art centres, museums, and galleries . During his undergraduate years at the University of British Columbia, Kealy studied visual art with a focus on painting as well as photography with Jeff Wall, and later completed an MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies (CCST). His practicum exhibition, Unterspiel, featured the work of five contemporary Viennese artists, Patrick Baumuller & Severin Hofmann, Catrin Bolt, Marlene Haring, monochrom, and Hans Schabus. The exhibition engaged with some of the artistic strategies that explored the problematics of contemporary art production in Vienna.
