The Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory extends our heartful congratulations to CCST alumna Shahana Rajani (MA ‘13), winner of the first Han Nefkens Foundation—South Asian Video Art Production Grant!
Rajani completed an MA in Critical and Curatorial Studies, and her thesis exhibition, Right to the City: Travel Guide to Karachi, explored the experience of living in the city of Karachi, Pakistan, and the production, representation, and contestation of its spaces.
Rajani will receive $15,000 for the production of a new work, which she will have nine months to complete. The new work will be presented by all the partner institutions of the grant: Prameya Art Foundation, Delhi, India; Nottingham Contemporary, UK; Ishara Art Foundation, Dubai, UAE; Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, Japan; Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M HKA), Belgium; and Para-Site, Hong Kong.
