Case Western Reserve University call for Art History papers
December 18, 2006
To whom it may concern:
As co-chairs of the Art History Club at Case Western Reserve University, we cordially invite art history majors from your university to participate in our Fourth Annual Undergraduate Art History Symposium, which will be held on Friday, March 2, 2007. We would ask you to please notify art history majors in your department, particularly juniors and seniors, about this opportunity.
After the success of last year’s symposium, which drew representatives from eight different universities, we are excited to expand this dialogue to include your students. In addition, we hope that this event will once again serve as a valuable experience for all participants, especially those who plan to pursue graduate degrees in art history and present research at symposiums in the future.
Any interested students should email a one-page abstract and a copy of a recently written research paper to CaseArtHistoryClub@gmail.com by February 2 (one submission per student, please). Members of the Art History Club symposium committee will review the submissions and notify those selected to present by February 9. Students should be aware that, if chosen, they will be responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from the event. Presentations should be kept to fifteen minutes, as audience members will be allowed to ask questions.
While calling for participants, we would also like to take this opportunity to invite the faculty of your department as well. Since our goal is to bring together as many people with different backgrounds, experiences, and approaches to art as possible, your presence will enhance the impact of this educational opportunity.
Sincerely,
Mary Manning
