AHVA alumni Vanessa Parent (Ph.D.) has accepted a postdoctoral research fellowship within the Rome Contemporary initiative at the Bibliotheca Hertziana in Rome (Max Planck Institute for Art History). She will be conducting research for a book-length project titled “Body, Language, Labour and Ritual: Sexual Difference, Embodied Resistance and the Political Potential of De-Culturalization.” The project examines the work of women artists in Italy and Austria in the 1970s while investigating the enduring political potential of post-1968 streams of feminist thought from outside the dominant Anglo-American tradition through their recuperation in contemporary art practices.
