Congratulations to Greg Gibson, Dean of Arts Award for Staff Excellence Winner



On December 16, 2025, AHVA undergraduate advisor Greg Gibson received the 2025 Dean of Arts Award for Staff Excellence at the annual Faculty of Arts staff appreciation event!

The award recognizes excellence in staff service within the Faculty of Arts, and recipients are chosen based on the significant contributions they make to productivity, quality of service, and morale within their workplace and for going above and beyond what is normally required of their position. Please join us in congratulating Greg on this well-deserved award

Greg joined the department in 2015 as head’s assistant and then assumed the undergraduate advisor role in 2018. Greg is an exemplary staff member whose decade of service to AHVA has profoundly shaped the department’s strength, culture, and student experience. As undergraduate advisor and a long-time alumnus, he brings unparalleled institutional knowledge, compassion, and professionalism to every task. Greg supports faculty leadership, mentors students with empathy and clarity, manages complex curriculum and scheduling needs, and consistently goes far beyond his role, including securing a transformative planned estate gift and elevating key departmental publications such as UJAH, the weekly AHVA News, and external-facing communicationsGreg also plays an integral role in the annual BFA/BA Visual Art Graduating Exhibition, coordinating artwork submissions and providing timely editorial reviews of social media content. Greg is an invaluable team member who is always supportive and open to communication. His reliability, generosity, and deep commitment to student success make him an indispensable member of AHVA.
