Call for Applications: Term Two Sessional Lectureships

We invite applications for part-time sessional lecturers for Winter Term 2, January 1 to April 30, 2022. UBC is currently conducting in-person instruction.

VISA 401F — Advanced Open Studio

Research-based studio with thematic or disciplinary focus. Intended for senior Visual Art undergraduate students. This course is not eligible for Credit/D/Fail grading.

Prerequisite: Three of VISA 310, VISA 311, VISA 320, VISA 321, VISA 330, VISA 331, VISA 340, VISA 341, VISA 350, VISA 351, VISA 352, VISA 360, VISA 361, VISA 370, VISA 375, VISA 390.

ARTH 251 — Asian Arts: From Chinese Warriors to Bollywood Posters

A thematic examination of Asian arts, such as historic, religious, and secular painting and sculpture to contemporary visual culture.

Enrolment: 60

Tuesdays/Thursdays: 3:30 to 5:00

Art History Applications:

A minimum of a PhD (ABD) in Art History is required, and preference will be given to applicants with post-secondary teaching experience and a record that provides evidence of teaching effectiveness. Applicants from both inside and outside UBC are encouraged.

Visual Art Applications:

A minimum of an MFA is required, and preference will be given to applicants with post-secondary teaching experience and a record that provides evidence of teaching effectiveness. Applicants from both inside and outside UBC are encouraged.

Applicants should also arrange to have two confidential reference letters submitted by email to ahva.head@ubc.ca (or have them on file for incumbents). All materials should be received by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21, 2021.

All positions are subject to availability of funds and will be governed by UBC’s “Agreement on Conditions of Appointment for Sessional Faculty Members.” The salary effective July 1, 2021 is $2,654.08 per credit, based off a nine credit term. Therefore, a regular three-credit course in our department would be remunerated at $7,962.24
