In their nomination of Pahre the Belkin Gallery noted

Jay Pahre has made a wonderful contribution to the Morris and Helen Belkin Art Gallery’s year of programming. A graduate student in fine arts with interests in ecology and in queer temporalities, Pahre helped to develop reading lists and educational materials for the exhibitions, Spill (September to December 2019) and David Wojnarowicz: Photography & Film 1978 – 1992 (January to March 2020), the UBC Outdoor Art Collection, and the university’s annual Family Day program, Kids Take Over UBC. Some 650 people attended his tours and discussions including students, faculty and staff from the University of British Columbia, Emily Carr University of Art + Design, Simon Fraser University, University of Victoria, and the University of Western Washington.

Generous with his time and thoughtful in his approach, Pahre shared his knowledge and experiences with people from diverse backgrounds and areas of study–and introduced them to the interdisciplinary nature of artistic practise. He was integral to Public Programming and the Belkin Gallery for the UBC 2019 – 2020 Winter session.
