Master’s Program Synopsis (Visual Art)

Full-time residency requirement: 24 months (36 credits)

Average number of years of residency: 2 years

Studio Seminars: VISA 581 & VISA 582 (24 credits)

Research Seminars: VISA 583A & 583B (6 credits)

Academic Courses (Non VISA): 6 credits

MFA Major Paper required: Yes (VISA 580)

Minor area of concentration required: No

Qualifying exams required: No

Requirements for Program Completion

  • Completion of academic coursework component (36 credits)
  • Open Studios and Inter-Departmental Critiques
  • Round Table Presentation
  • Final Presentation (graduation exhibition, short artist talk and critique with external examiner present)
  • Submission of major paper & digital images of works for departmental archive, and short biography and images for departmental webpage.
