The Vancouver Art Gallery exhibition < a href="http://www.vanartgallery.bc.ca/the_exhibitions/exhibit_vancouverspe cial.html">Vancouver Special: Ambivalent Pleasures includes work b y forty visual artists\, as a survey of the contemporary art activity in th e city over the past five years. The featured works of art do not adhere to a singular subject or style but instead point to overlapping and ongoing c onversations about abstraction\, Surrealism and conceptual practice. In thi s afternoon of talks\, artists and writers offer perspectives on these aspe cts of the exhibition and highlight the nuanced and stimulating spaces in-b etween definitions.
