Dylan AT Miner is a Wiisaakodewinini (Métis) artist\, activist\ , and scholar. He is currently Director of American Indian and Indigenous S tudies\, as well as Associate Professor in the Residential College in the A rts and Humanities at Michigan State University. Miner sits on the Michigan Indian Education Council and is a founding member of the Justseeds artists collective. He holds a PhD from the University of New Mexico and has publi shed more than sixty journal articles\, book chapters\, critical essays\, a nd encyclopedia entries. In 2010\, he was awarded an Artist Leadership Fell owship through the National Museum of the American Indian (Smithsonian Inst itution). Miner has been featured in more than two dozen solo exhibitions—w ith three planned in the next year and a mid-career retrospective being org anized for 2021—and has been artist-in-residence or visiting artist at inst itutions such as the School of the Art Institute of Chicago\, École supérie ure des beaux-arts in Nantes\, Klondike Institute of Art and Culture\, Rabb it Island\, Santa Fe Art Institute\, and numerous universities\, art school s\, and low-residency MFA programs. His book Creating Aztlán: Chicano A rt\, Indigenous Sovereignty\, and Lowriding Across Turtle Island was p ublished in 2014 by the University of Arizona Press. In the past year\, he has published four risograph books: an artist’s book titled Aanikoobiji gan // Waawaashkeshi\, a booklet on Métis and Anishinaabe beadwork\, a chapbook on quillwork\, and another titled Bakobiigwaashkwani // She J umps into the Water. He recently commenced the Bootaagaani-minis ∞ Dru mmond Island Land Reclamation Project and is collaborating to print lost gr aphics from the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW). www.wiisaakodewinini.com
